A Suitcase of Dress-Up Clothes

O's favorite Christmas gift was her suitcase full of dress-up clothes, specifically her beautiful Cinduh-ella gown and glass slippers :) I love that the dress-up clothes are in a suitcase and therefore, super easy and convenient to transport. We brought them with us to my mom's for the week after Christmas, and we're taking them to a tea party when O wakes up from her nap. Here are a few highlights:
O and M have been having LOTS of Royal Princess Tea Parties!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing all of your wonderful memories and ideas. I have gleaned so many useful things from you by reading this blog! I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

Do you mind giving me a few tips on a dress up suitcase? I have been wanting to put one together for my boys, but since they are, well, boys, I have had THE hardest time coming up with ideas for stuff to put in there. Also, where did you find your stuff? Did you thrift most of it?

I don't have any problem with their being costume jewelery, tutu's and the like in there, but I know that there must be SOME "boy stuff" too! I'd love it if you had any advice, which I know is asking for a lot since you're a mama to a girl:) Thank you again.

Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family.

  2. Sara- A few of the things in the suitcase came from thrift stores, but most of it came from Target and Wal-mart during their after Halloween sales. The wigs are junk, but the girls LOVE them, and I only paid 25 cents each for them :) Although, they aren't in O's suitcase, playsilks are the VERY best dress-up accessories. The girls use them as capes, blankets, hats, etc. I also found several funny faces at the Dollar tree...the kinds with the thick glasses and big plastic noses and also one with a clown nose. We have lots of hats- elf, Santa, cowboy, etc., so that's something else that boys would like. Hmmm maybe a pirate's hat, eyepatch, and hook. I bought an eyepatch for O, but I haven't put it in the suitcase yet. I have SO MUCH stuff that I'm saving some for later :) Bandanas are also fun for dress-up, and face paint is great for boys and girls. I put face paint in O's suitcase, but we haven't used it yet. I'm actually a little scared to use it because I'm sure we'll have it everywhere. Maybe some animal ears. We have pig ears (on a headband) and a snout, and my niece has cow ears and a tail. They love crawling around on the floor mooing and oinking :) Hope that helps :)
