Maybe I should have worded it to say that students should be respectful of those who are saying the pledge. I find it completely unacceptable to walk into a classroom with kids talking and ignoring the pledge when it is being said. Even if some students are not going to say the pledge, they will not disturb or distract me or those who are saying the pledge. I see it as part of my job as a teacher in America to demonstrate respect for my country and those who have served it.Anne Shealyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17927125037514713197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536964614643414021.post-72707341608845667992011-04-25T21:17:15.308-04:002011-04-25T21:17:15.308-04:00Yes, this was a great letter! The teacher cannot force the student to say it. I don't want to veer away from the tone of the note, but wanted to mention that because some might not know.Leighnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536964614643414021.post-25537241957073866822011-04-25T07:38:08.703-04:002011-04-25T07:38:08.703-04:00It is a great testimony to the teachers out there ...It is a great testimony to the teachers out there who give their jobs their all! My husband fights for people to choose whether or not to say the pledge. Additionally, it would be a violation of the law.Mrs. McGrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06976357285671434436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536964614643414021.post-20720856448037574982011-04-24T10:56:36.595-04:002011-04-24T10:56:36.595-04:00What perfect timing for this post. I have had lots of teaching responsibilities in our church and adults often comment on how I "teach well" or "know so much" and it's really just that I focus on the one thing that I was passionate about and it always comes across in a meaningful way!

Also, loved the reminders about how difficult many children's home lives are. There is a great need for unconditional love.Amberhttp://becausebabiesgrowup.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536964614643414021.post-27226247234081484342011-04-23T23:37:17.163-04:002011-04-23T23:37:17.163-04:00Good post!Good post!Heather Reesehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07239360061592826121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536964614643414021.post-64365492649900778262011-04-23T23:16:18.280-04:002011-04-23T23:16:18.280-04:00Thank you for sharing this!
