This rainbow peg doll set is another one of E's handmade Christmas gifts. I think she is going to love it!
I bought the peg dolls and cups from Hobby Lobby. They were 50% off, so I spent a total of about 3 dollars.
I painted the dolls and cups with liquid watercolors (from IKEA).
This was a fun and simple gift to make for my sweet girl!

Awww, those are so cute!!! Any chance you'll eventually make another set and put it up on etsy or something? I'd love to have a set for Bug, but we don't have a Hobby Lobby near us.

Thanks for sharing such great ideas! I just went to HL today to get items to do this! I'm including them in a "treasure basket" (also inspired by you) of items for my 2 nephews (a one year old and 9 month old). ReplyDeleteI did this same project for my little girl this Christmas. I didn't like the feel of the raw painted wood and I found that one quick layer of Modge Podge made them look nice and finished and feel smoother.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!! I just went to Hobby Lobby today to get the materials. I found both large and small peg dolls and cups so I got both sizes. Not only can she match colors but she can match sizes too.

ReplyDeleteDo you remember the sizes you used? I got the little cups from A.C. Moore and the little pegs from Hobby Lobby. Only they don't fit together.
ReplyDeleteI made two mini-sets of these today (our Hobby Lobby only had one package each of 8 pegs and 6 cups so I made two sets of primary colored ones for my nieces' Christmas gifts). My daughter had fun painting the extra 2 pegs while I did the gifts!
ReplyDeleteOne word of advice (perhaps as a PS on your post?) Check the fit of the pegs to the cups prior to painting. I did not do this and found that they all varied in sized minutely, which lead to me sitting on the couch sanding out the inside of a cup with an emery board for about 45 minutes to make his match fit! A quick pairing up of the pegs to cups prior to painting would have saved me a ton of time. :)
