O was thrilled to work with her number puzzle this afternoon. I'm just happy that I found this wooden number puzzle for only 25 cents :) I am a bit disappointed that I couldn't get the pen marks off of it. Does anybody have any ideas for getting pen marks off of wood?
Have you tried hairspray? I know it works for cloth.
ReplyDeleteToothpaste would be my second try. Some good old baking soda toothpate. Or, if you don't have that kind, make a paste with baking soda and some water and scrub it down.
you can always repaint or stain the letters after a light sanding...
ReplyDeleteIf hairspray doesn't work, I would suggest painting it black. Nice contrast with the colored pieces, and it won't show dirt much.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cleaning tool for such things is a Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean I think. It has no cleaners on it. It is white and blue. It uses good ole' elbow grease on one side and water on the other. Takes permanent marker off of just about anything so I am thinking that it would work for taking ink off or wood as long as the ink has not stained down into the wood grain.

ReplyDeleteI was also going to suggest the magic eraser or a repaint. So many good ideas :) That is one of the lovely things about thrifted things. Maybe you don't have to love them quite so much and knowing that they'll get dinged up in your house doesn't feel so bad. Part of why I love my second hand minivan!
