We have been reading and reading and reading Shel Silverstein books for the last month or so, and Runny Babbit is our FAVORITE! O laughs and laughs more than I have ever seen her laugh while reading a book. It is truly a classic that I'm sure we'll be reading and enjoying for years. We also really love The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and Where The Sidewalk Ends. If you haven't read these books, you should rush to your library to check them out!
I LOVED Shel Silverstein as a child and still have my (original vintage) copies of Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, The Giving Tree, etc. that I read to my girls at night before bed. It's great being able to share something I loved with them - his sense of humor STILL cracks me up as an adult! Runny Babbit is our favorite, too, followed closely by Giraffe and a Half!
ReplyDeleteRunny Babbit is awesome.
ReplyDeleteCheck out his web site for more wonderful ideas. I started using them today with my kids at school and will use them for the next couple of weeks.

Also, many of the poems are on You Tube with Shel reading them. The kids love them!
Runny Babbit is hilarious! I am looking forward to when my little one will enjoy it, too.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I tried your contact paper collage on our sliding door. I'm going to substitute in new materials from time to time, and I think it will become a new favorite. Thanks for the idea!
Hello :) We have really enjoyed "The Giving Tree" & have borrowed it from the library a number of times but not read any of the other books. Will certainly remedy that now! Cheers :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen your blog in a few days. You guys have been busy! Glad to see you are feeling better. I haven't thought about Shel Silverstein in years and your post brought back memories. I'll have to get Seth some of his books.
