After O's nap we made fruit salad so we could eat like the caterpillar in the book. We were both especially excited about the watermelon in our fruit salad! We LOVE watermelon :)
Other activities that we did to go along with the activity kit (but didn't take pictures of) were going on a caterpillar hunt with a magnifying glass (we didn't find any caterpillars), looking at insect and butterfly Viewmaster slides, making plaster of paris insects, and going to the butterfly room at the Children's museum.
I am so jealous of all the great activities you get from your library! I sure wish ours had a program like this!
ReplyDeleteMy son's SN teacher used the Very Hungry Caterpillar Book to encourage the kids in the class to try new foods. They ended up touching, licking, or eating a bite of every food from the book!
ReplyDeleteWe love this book, too. Hey, just so you know, this is the 40th anniversary of that book! You may find more interesting activities for it this year. We actually did my 1 year old's b-d party in that theme, not knowing it was the anniversary this year. Also, we were at Applebee's the other week and the kiddie menu was VHP! :) It had little caterpillar & butterfly facts on it, too.
ReplyDeleteI like your activities for The Hungry Caterpillar. We just did a few ourselves.

My twins made a book and an egg carton caterpillar. :)
