Fall Handprint Art

O and I had fun making a handprint tree a few days ago. The idea for this activity came from Montessori Moments. I traced O's arm and hand on construction paper (she chose the colors) and then cut them out. She glued the arm and hand "tree" to a piece of paper and glued leaves on the tree. She really enjoyed collecting the leaves, and she especially enjoyed spreading the glue all over her paper!

  1. What is it with kids and glue sticks? My little guy is 18 months and my neice is almost 3, and both of them love glue sticks! They never want to actually stop and glue things to the paper, they just want to continue to smear glue around until the glue stick runs out lol.

  2. This is really nice with the real leaves. I have done a variation of this with the hand print tree and then using finger tips to add "leaves" by dotting on paint. I give the kids a damp wash cloth for cleaning fingers between colours. O might enjoy this extension too.

  4. My son did something similar at school. Here at home, I plan on using finger paint to pain his hand and make a turkey!!
