O's Easel

We gave O this great easel from IKEA for her birthday, and she is SO excited. She said this area of the room is her "art station." She painted and painted and colored and put stickers on the paper for hours :) I bought several cups from IKEA to hang on the easel for extra storage, and she arranged them all just how she liked them. I was excited about the no spill paint cups that I bought from Amazon because we can just leave the paint at the easel so that it is always accessible. (I hope this isn't a mistake!). We also gave her an art tote from Let's Explore with several goodies in it...crayon rocks, window crayons, etc. She's very impressed with the window crayons and intrigued by the crayon rocks. While she was working at her easel, she said she was "arting." She also said "I am SO tired, but I just can't stop doing art. The art won't let me!" Interesting...

  1. What a fun gift! We have that same IKEA easel - I need to look for some of those hanging cups to add more storage to ours - great idea! :)

  2. Very nice. We have the Guidecraft wall mount easel but haven't hung it yet - when I ordered it I didn't really think about it but we have chair rail almost everywhere. Love the no spill cups! I will have to get some!

  5. Does the easel have two sides to it? (IE chalkboard and other) A white board? Magnetic?

We are thinking of getting Obed a easel for his 2nd birthday (Aug 3) or Christmas because he loves coloring SO much.

  7. Easels are the best. We leave the no spill paint cups in our easel without any problems thus far. *knocks on wood*

I am curious about the window crayons. How different/ easily distinguishable are they from regular crayons? Is there a concern about getting them mixed up?

  8. The easel has a whiteboard on one side and a chalkboard on the other side. The cups are not meant for the easel. I think I saw them in the kitchen section, and I took it back with me to the easel to try it out. It fits, but just barely. They only cost a dollar each, so I decided to go ahead and get them. I planned to put them on the side of the easel, but O likes them in the front, and they fit better in the front. She has her markers, crayon rocks, window crayons, and brushes in them.

Yes, the window crayons are easily distinguishable from regular crayons. They are the same size, but the wrapper is dark blue and says wax-o-glass. O LOVES them. I bought them from Let's Explore.

  10. I've seen the window crayons in Wal-mart as well, and they do look a lot different.

  11. We also have the IKEA easel. Love it except that the chalkboard side is difficult to write on (even though we've tried to "season" it several times). Does anyone else have this problem.

We also like the window crayons from Let's Explore. One thing to keep in mind though is that they can become a bit messy. The heat from holding them seems to melt the crayon and get on hands.

  12. We have the same easel too. Although if I could, I think I would buy the Melissa&Dough one. We just don't have it in my country.
I just posted a query on my blog (in English this time:) about the imaginative play. I will appreciate your thoughts..:)
