My mom made a wrap for me, and since we had lots of leftover fabric, she made one for O, too! O was very excited!
To make the wrap for me, mom cut 5 yards of cotton interlock fabric into a strip about 20 inches wide. Super simple! To make O's, we just wrapped it around her to get the correct length and cut off the excess. I'm REALLY looking forward to wearing Little Kicker in the wrap. With O, I used a ring sling, pouch sling, baby bjorn, and a beco, so this will be a new experience for me. I hope I can figure out how to do it...it seems a little complicated :)
How fun! Youtube has so many videos to show how to use a wrap to wear your baby. I'm excited for you all!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Moby style wrap! Once you figure it out, it's a snap to get on and off. A friend gave me a tip I relied on so many times; you can save yourself some time & effort when you running errands by tying the wrap on at home and wearing it under your coat so that when you arrive at your destination, all you have to do is slip the baby in. This is especially helpful on rainy days, which we have lots of here in Seattle.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and am grateful you are willing to share; it constantly inspires me to try new things with my daughter.
I never had a moby, they intimidated me! I loved my mei tai!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of a one-month wrap challenge and I've got some really good links to wrap tutorials from the others doing it with me: http://theartoflazyparenting.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIt is a steep learning curve but it's pretty cool when you can do it!
Tip: start practising with a doll now. It helps your body get used to the movement of wrapping.
Oh, I love my Moby wrap. I have a "real" one and then my Nana made me another. They may be a pain to put on, but no wrap I've found feels as warm and snuggly with baby. It's more hands free than my husband's Baby Bjorn! My only complaint is that in the summer, it's too insulating to wear outside in the heat.
ReplyDeleteI think you're going to love it!
I love my moby wrap--and I was concerned about learning it too! You can wrap the baby more securely in it, I think, than in a bjorn. And I like that I can lean over with my little one inside and she is still secure.
ReplyDeleteThat's the only style of baby carrier that scares me :) I am gong to have to try it again some day. O looks very cute with her baby doll and wrap.
ReplyDeletewraps are SOOOO nice with newborns. As a mom w/ a 12 week old - its invaluable. He's been in it since he was 2-3 weeks or so and he's so secure I'm not worried about his head/neck. There are some AWESOME how-to's on youtube, and once you get the hang of it, you wonder why you were worried... good luck!
ReplyDeleteps - the moby instructions say to tie in the back, but if you start off center insted of middle, you can tie at your side and then you can actually sit down! :)
They Moby Wrap was the only one I could figure out. I'm sure you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI just made one of these for myself!!! I love it and it inly cost me 7.50 to make 2 off them!
ReplyDeleteI love my wrap. I'm expecting as well (35 weeks) and I can still use my wrap to carry my heavy 22 month old on my back or hip. I agree with a lot of the comments- once you get the hang of tying it, it's no sweat. Another tip- if you know you'll be using it on an outing, tie it on before you leave the house and just wear it empty in the car. Makes getting out of the car and into places much faster (especially with a toddler, I'm guessing). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI just got a Moby for my fourth and I can't believe that I had to live through other inferior carriers to find it - it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think Moby's are wonderful for the littlest ones. We used one for the first few months then moved to the mei-tei which we still love. I am sure you and O will love wearing your babies together.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with a Moby Wrap. It is absolutely the most perfect way to snuggle with a young baby.
ReplyDeleteElla loves her moby type wrap - when she was little and fussy, I'd just put her in it and she'd drift right off to dreamland! I had a friend show me how to wrap it, but then looked it up on youtube - it's really very simple.
