Valentine's Day Spooning Activity

To complete this activity O spooned a marble into each heart on the silicone heart tray. She had a little difficulty balancing the marble on the spoon, but she enjoyed the challenge. We'll be doing more spooning activities in the future.

  1. Again, thank you so much for your blog. I am getting so many great ideas.

We made our sensory containers today. The children had a great time. It was a little messy so we will play with them with a table cloth on the floor next time. The kids were excited to hear we could take a trip to WinCo and the bulk bins to find other things they might like in their containers.

We are working on the house today. Trying to arrange their toys and learning things into different groups and containers that will hopefully work better.

Thank you for the time you put into your blog. I love the marble idea today. Again, something we can easily do, but on my own I didn't think of it. The extra challenge of the marble rolling will be an added challenge.

  2. Sorry, one more comment. In our sensory box today we hid six items. I gave each of the children a piece of paper with the numbers one through six wrote down in a box. They were able to pull out each item, put it in a box, count and know when they found all the items. It was nice for them to have a completion point and not keep digging through wondering if they found all the items or not. I thought of that because of your check system with the hearts the other day.

Thank you. I really am enjoying finding activities for my children instead of just unstructured play time. I know that is important too, but it is great to have activities for them to work on, have fun and learn too.

  3. That is a really challenging fine motor task! I don't think I could do that - I would have marbles everywhere:)

  4. Thank you for the idea. Do you remember where you got the heart tray?

  5. I bought a similar heart tray from the Target Dollar Spot a couple of weeks ago, along with some small clear plastic hearts and am planning on doing a transfer activity with them soon too. :)

  7. I didn't mean to delete my comment and was adding that I also bought this tray for $1 at Target over the weekend. Thanks for creating another use for it- love it! I may try using Skittles until we buy more marbles.
