Thrifty Thursday
I stopped by the thrift store today after work, and I'm SO glad that I did! I bought this doll for 2 dollars! I'm very excited because I wanted to get O a realistic looking, life-size doll that can share clothes with the real baby. All of O's dolls are small (the biggest is probably 15 inches long), so they can't wear real clothes. Also, her cousin has a doll with a vinyl face, hands, and feet, and O LOVES her, so I think she'll be excited to have a realistic looking baby of her own. The doll needs a lot of cleaning, and her hair needs a lot of work, but I can't complain since I only paid 2 dollars!

Thrifty Thursday
I haven't been to the thrift store in more than a month, but after encouragement from Shannon, I decided to stop by after work on Thursday. I haven't really gone anywhere except work on Thursdays and my mom's house for weeks and weeks because I am afraid of suddenly throwing up in a public place. Yuck! So I hesitantly went to the thrift store. They really didn't have much, but I did find 4 children's books that I think O will love. One of the books is Harry the Dirty Dog. I had this book as a child and loved it, and we've checked it out from the library and O loved it. I think she especially liked it since one of her grandaddies is named Harry :)
After I left the thrift store, I headed to Wal-Mart for various craft supplies (walmart is the only place to buy craft supplies around here, unfortunately). I found what I needed, and my good deal of the day is a purple ballerina dress for O. It was marked down from 9 dollars to 5 dollars, and I just couldn't resist buying it for my little ballerina :) I haven't decided if I'll go ahead and give it to her or wait until Easter...
While at Walmart I was drawn to the toy aisle where I played with a Viewmaster with sound. I've always liked viewmasters, and I've been thinking of getting one for O for a while. I never considered getting one with sound, but the information that went along with the pictures was interesting and the sound was so clear. I have to admit that I was impressed. I didn't buy it, but I'm seriously considering it. It may make a good Easter present as well :) They had the viewmaster slides on sale for 3 dollars for sets of 3. I didn't think that was a very good price until I came home and looked on Amazon. Now I'm tempted to go back and buy lots of viewmaster slides before I even decide to buy the viewmaster! If anyone has tried the Viewmaster with sound, I'd love to hear what you think about it. Amazon only had 2 reviews, which were both good, but I'd like to hear from more people as to whether it is worth the money. This toy may be my exception to our no plastic, no batteries rule for Easter! So much for a handmade Easter, although there will be handmade components (felt donuts) :)

Thrifty Thursday
I haven't done a thrifty Thursday post in a while, so I thought today would be a good day to start back. Last week I was too sick to stop at the thrift store after work (and you know I must have felt bad to not stop by at least for a minute!), and the week before that I took a trunkload full of donations and did not buy a thing! That felt good! Today I bought 4 children's books. At least one will definitely be for cutting up and using in projects, and I know that won't be a problem for me (I HATE to cut books) since it is scribbled in and a few pages are torn. I made sure it was in bad enough shape that I wouldn't mind cutting it up :) I also bought a baby doll car seat for O. She's REALLY into baby doll care lately, and she's going to love it. I can't decide if I should go ahead and give it to her or wait for Christmas. My last purchase was a potty seat with steps, so she can get up on the potty independently. I think she's going to love this, too!

Thrifty Thursday
The addiction continues... I bought 18 children's books this Thursday and 15 last week. I can't seem to stop myself. I'm VERY choosy, but there are just so many that I can't resist. Another problem that I have is that I intentionally buy books that aren't in the greatest shape, so that I can cut them up for various projects without feeling too badly about it. The problem is that I STILL can't bring myself to cut them! I bought 2 books that I wouldn't normally have bought since they weren't in near perfect condition, and we've already enjoyed reading them several times. I don't think they'll be making it to the cutting pile :(

Thrifty Thursday
I had another good thrift day (or days)! On Wednesday O and I went to town to meet Elliott for lunch. Since we were in town, we HAD to check out the thrift stores. I was very proud of O because she stayed right beside me, and she reminded me "don't touch, mama!" We bought 7 baskets for Montessori work for $1.89 :) On Thursday I went to the thrift store near my office after work, and I found TOO much. I bought a milk glass mug for O for 25 cents (she needs her own special mug to make cake in a mug, right?), 2 wooden trays (for Montessori work) for 75 cents each, about 10 books, 3 loaves of Nature's Own Whole Wheat bread for $2.30 (I just paid 2.58 for 1 loaf last week. The bread expires in less than a week which is why it was at the thrift store. I froze 2 loaves, and we'll probably finish the other soon), and an old suitcase (I have BIG plans for the suitcase! Stay tuned...). I'm looking forward to next Thursday. I'm hoping to take at least 1 or 2 bags of things to donate. My goal is to donate more than I buy, but so far that hasn't happened :(

Thrifty Thursday
I hit the jackpot today!!! I bought 43 hardback children's books for 49 cents each (18 of these books were the Sweet Pickle books that I loved when I was a child. I was super excited to see them, and now I have several that I've never even read. I hope O will love them as much as I did!), 8 softcover children's books for 25 cents each, 2 loaves of Nature's Own Whole Wheat bread for 1.50, and a small caddy container for 50 cents. Total spent was around 25 dollars. That's much more than I ever spend at the thrift store, but I bought some GREAT books. I don't feel too bad about spending so much since the thrift store benefits people with disabilities.

Thrifty Thursday
Sorry this post is a little late! Once again I didn't take any donations to the thrift store which I am feeling pretty bad about, but we had a super busy week and I didn't make the time to go through our junk. I bought 5 books and 2 baskets for 2 dollars and 49 cents.
I had to go to town to get a tetanus shot this morning (I sliced my thumb with a grimy razor blade last night while opening a tube of wood filler to TRY to fix O's sandbox). Since I like to do as much as possible when we go into town, we dropped off the trash, stopped by 2 thrift stores, and ran by Wal-Mart. We rarely go to the thrift stores in our town, so I was excited to check them out. I bought 7 books for 2 dollars and 50 cents (I can't stop the addiction!). They're all children's books, of course!

Thrifty Thursday
Today was a slow day for the thrift store! O and I have been out of town since Friday morning (we just got back home last night), so I didn't have time to find things to donate, and I only bought 1 book (49 cents). It was a board book that O is probably too old for, but I really liked it, so I couldn't resist.

Thrifty Thursday
Today was a very successful thrift day because I donated MUCH more than I bought, which is always my goal.
Donated: 2 pairs of too small shorts, 2 girls' outfits, 1 pair of toddler pants, 1 pair of toddler shoes, bedroom shoes, 2 sippy cups, 3 plastic cups, 1 plastic plate, 1 car cooler, 1 log holder, 2 plastic pampered chef bowls with lids, 1 plastic bowl, 1 ball, 1 chicken cooking thing, and about 15 to 20 children's books (Elliott's old books that held no sentimental value). There were a few more things, but I can't think of them now.
Bought- pretty little planter for a flower or maybe an activity and 11 juice glasses that will be great for Miss O (she drinks from glasses at all meals and straw cups between meals, in the car, and at night) total spent $5.00

Thrifty Thursday
Donated: 15 magazines, 20 greeting/Christmas cards, 1 record, 5 cassette tapes, 1 teddy bear, 1 small Barbie, 1 small photo album, etc.
Purchased: 2 small glasses for O, a basket for Montessori work, a wide mouthed ceramic frog (I've got a few Montessori inspired ideas for this frog!), a small doll for O (I'm feeling some buyer's remorse for buying the doll since O REALLY does not need another doll, but it was cute and only cost 1 dollar) Total spent- $3.69

Thrifty Thursday
Since I go to the thrift store every Thursday, I've decided to do a Thrifty Thursday post each week just because writing about my thrift store finds makes me happy :) Today I bought 2 loaves of bread (whole wheat for us, white for the ducks and geese), 3 small baskets for Montessori work, and a vintage ABC board book all for $2.69. I donated 2 comforters, about 10 books, and a lamp. I'm relieved that I donated more than I bought! Hopefully, I'll have time to find another bag of things to donate for next week.

Loving the Thrift Store
I bought 8 books, 1 shirt, 1 dress type outfit (both for O), and a basket for $3.72! Yay for thrift stores! I also dropped off a bag of stuff we don't need. I'm going to try to take a bag of stuff to donate each week. That way I won't feel so bad about buying things.
