You Can Fix Diaper Elastic!

I was so relieved when I found out that diaper elastic can be fixed! I bought BumGenius Seconds for O when she was about 6 months old. They were seconds, but they still weren't cheap. However, I justified the cost since I knew I could use them with any future children. I was pretty upset when the elastic gave out after less than a year. Luckily, I found this tutorial, and Guh-guh got right to work! She said it was very fast and easy :) Hooray, now all of the bumgenius are as good as new :)

It looks like the pics on the tutorial aren't work. If anyone is interested, I'll get my mom to reinact fixing a diaper and write a tutorial for it. Just let me know :)

  1. tutorial & pics please!!! :) I have 6 or so BumGenius that a friend gave me (free!) because the elastic is shot. Our 2nd little one is due late Dec and I'm trying to get prepared and repairing these is on the list.

Hope you're having a wonderful babymoon with little Ema!

  2. Fantastic! The elastic on ours is holding up well, but the Velco/Aplix is really losing its 'stick'. I'm even wondering if they'll last him through to potty training! I might have to have a go at replacing the Aplix and reviving all those BGs for a (as yet unconceived) no 2.

    happy babymoon :D

  3. I'd love a tutorial! I'm currently fixing the Velcro on our bumGeniuses, but a few need new elastic, too.

  4. I'd appreciate a tutorial with pictures too! I've fixed the elastic in fuzzi bunz but haven't tried it with a bum genius yet.

  5. A lady in out play group added snaps to hers. She ended up buying a snap press and charges $2 per cloth diaper to add snaps. She does it through some diaper swap website. Apparently the velcro and elastic wearing out is very common.

  6. Yes, the more expensive diapers don't "last" until the next child near as well as the cheaper ones do, interestingly enough.

  7. Tutorial please!! You're a lifesaver...we're about to have our 3rd and I was JUST about to buy a new batch of Bums because the elastic went out on our old ones! You just saved me a couple hundred dollars!! (assuming I can actually fix my diapers!)
