We all enjoyed this easy breakfast. I think it will be fun to use different seasonal cookie cutters with each season and holiday :) The idea for this breakfast came from Parents magazine.

An Easy, Healthy, & Fast Breakfast
O and my mom made these fun egg and toasts breakfast combinations a few days ago. O chose the cookie cutters, they cut the shape out of the bread, buttered the bread, put it in the pan, cracked the egg into the toast, and fried the egg. Delicious, healthy, fast, and fun!

My kids love that too! I saw it and tried it but yours look so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun for the morning after a sleep over!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have these when I was little and I forgot all about them. Thanks for tomorrow's breakfast idea.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to make these for me on her woodstove. Then my mum made them for me and I have made them for my kids and grandkids. They are great fun.
ReplyDeleteLove this! My grandma used to make it for me growing up, and now my mom makes it for my son. We call it "toad in the hole". No idea why!
ReplyDeleteWow - I have never seen this before and I love it, how cute! Might do it for Sunday breakfast :)
ReplyDeleteMy Dad always made this for us growing up. Of course back then it was cool to leave the yolk runny and use the center part of the toast to dip into the yellow. He called it "Hot House Toast." Not sure why. Now it is popular with the boys except I over cook the middle and let them put jelly on the middle cut out piece!
ReplyDeleteWe call them "angles on horseback" I am not sure why, I think it was because my grandma didn't like the name "toad in a hole"
ReplyDeleteLOL! I totally started making these after I saw V for Vendetta ;) They called them 'egg in a basket'. I love the idea of using a cookie cutter!
ReplyDeleteSeems like there is alot of different names for this. I used to make them all the time for my older kids. We just used a round cookie cutter and we called them "One-eyed Jacks". I think I origianally got the idea for both the food and the name from my mom although I don't recall eating this growing up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if I make these with my 3 yr old, she'll actually eat egg! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of using different shapes on these. I have made them before, but never thought of different shapes. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteWe love these to!!! We have never used cookie cutters before, just a cup to cut the hole. We call them froggie in a hole!
ReplyDeleteHow funny...so many different names. My Dad also made these when we were growing up. We call them Cowboy Eggs!
ReplyDeleteJust tried to make these this morning. Mine didn't turn out near as pretty as yours, but they were so tasty!
ReplyDeleteOh great! We always just made these round, using cookie cutters is such a great idea. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been making "egg in a hole" since I was little. Yours are alot prettier than mine though. :)
