Charm Necklace

Remember this??? This is my charm necklace from about 25 years ago. I was very proud of this necklace and thought I was so cool when I wore it :) Luckily, my mom saves everything, so now O loves the necklace, too (and I'm sure Ema will love it in about 3 years!). She especially loves the pretend lipstick, and she insists that the record is a frisbee. I guess I need to show her a record since it obviously a foreign concept for her!

  2. I still have mine too and LOVE it. I spent a few HOURS looking for it in all the attic boxes a while back. I use to save my allowance to buy the charms. Love your blog.

  8. LOL. My in-laws have a VCR still and when the kids are watching a movie and we have to fast forward through the ads in the beginning, they are completely clueless and start yelling to "Just play the movie!"

Kids these days....What are we gonna do with them.

  10. I had one of those, too! I think I had the baby bottle charm, and I know I had at least one of those records. I think mine is long gone, though, but what a great find for O to play with!

  17. Oh my goodness! I had several of those, and one with larger links that you wore as a belt. LOL I actually have thought about it off and on over the years. Maybe I wish that I still had that.

Why don't they make those anymore? Strawberry Shortcake and Lite Brite came back -- why not these plastic charms? ;)

  18. I have mine and my brother's in a box at my mom's house! I loved those things! I've thought of passing them down to Little Bear, but after keeping it for 30 years, I'm not ready for it to get lost or broken within five minutes! :( I wish they'd make new ones for kids these days!

  19. My word! I think about my necklace and all its charms all the time....how neat that yours is still around!

I am in the process of cleaning out the kids' not-played-with toys. Thanks for the reminder to hold back those things that are dearest to us! :) It's worth the space taken up in the attic -- Memories will keep!

  20. Oh the memories! I am sad now thinking that I don't have mine. My mom used to save everything and as I have gotten older it drives me crazy to have clutter, so over the years I have gotten rid of things. Now that I have a daughter I feel like I can't part with any of her things. How amazing that you still have your charm necklace! You lucky duck!

  23. I remember! I've been trying to describe those charm necklaces to my daughter for years! I'm so excited to be able to show them. I remember the baby bottle was one of the most coveted items at my school.

  24. I wish I had mine too! Those were so much fun. Maybe we should bring them back like they did Strawberry Shortcake and all the other fun things from our childhood!

  25. Yes, I do remember those! I think all my old toys are long gone, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing! :-) Why is it that the shape of the little clips is what I really remember the most? I remember I had some grapes...
