Family Game Night

Family game night has turned into family game morning, game afternoon, etc. O received lots of fun games for Christmas, and we have been playing them nonstop! Zingo and Keep it Steady are our favorites, but we've also enjoyed Count & Cook by Cranium Bloom, Seek and Find by Cranium, and the Tea Party Game by Eeboo.

To play the Seek and Find game you have to assemble the puzzle first. You then draw cards which give you an item or items to find. Once you find the items, you circle them with a dry erase marker. This game is actually somewhat difficult, and there are a couple of items that we still haven't found!

The illustrations for the Tea Party game are really pretty :) To play this game you spin the spinner to obtain tea party items. The first person to gather all of the party items wins the game. It's fun and simple!

Just so you know...I linked to the games at Amazon, so you could see them if you are interested. However, the prices for the Cranium games are VERY inflated. I paid 3.98 for the Seek and Find game and about 7.00 for the Count and Cook game. Both games were on sale at Target. They are both a lot of fun, but not worth the prices on Amazon :)

  1. Thanks for the heads up on the game deals. I have not bought many games for my girls, but now that my toddler is older and might be able to play with her older sis versus putting all the pieces in her mouth, I am thinking of getting some. Did you know that Aldi sometimes sells vintage-style special edition board games like Chutes and Ladders and Candyland? So much cuter than the stuff they have out in stores now. And it's cheaper, too!

  2. Thanks so much for the game inspiration. My girl is four and I think she would enjoy the tea party game. I've been wanting to play board games that won't frustrate her, too! Thanks also for keeping it real about where to get the best deals on the games. We will check out Target over the weekend. I can't wait!

  3. I am going to have to look into those. Beeper loves games, but it is so hard to find good ones for this age. I know he would enjoy the couple you described. Thanks for the list.

BTW, I've nominated you for an award at Walk Beside Me. You were one of the first people who commented when I sarted my blog way back when, and I've been loving your blog ever since:

  5. I think my daughter would like the tea party game. I was looking at the eeboo games/toys on Amazon - I think she'd like most of them. Thanks for the tip.

I love the Cranium Bloom games/toys and I get them from Target too. Paige and I have enjoyed the sandwich stacker game, where you build a hamburger, and for Christmas she got a mail carrier set, which she's loved.

  7. My daughter loves to play board games at the moment. The Tea Party Game really looks like fun! However, I think I can't buy it here in Germany. (I tried a search on amazon already.) Would you mind stating the rules a bit more explicit? You spin and then you collect the item that is depicted (or pass)? That's it? Is there a certain order? What's the goal of the game? To be the first to collect everything? I am thinking maybe I could just kinda make a similar one myself ...
I just posted about a game I made from felt

  8. I love the idea of making Keep it Steady. Could you share where you found the wooden curtain ring--I have been trying to find them for another project too. Thanks!

  9. Miss Muffin- I think it would be really easy to make a tea party game. You have to collect a tea cup, cream and sugar, napkin and utensils, plate, sandwich, dessert, and fruit. The first one to collect them all wins. You don't collect more than one of each thing, and you have to have a plate before you can begin collecting the food. I hope you'll make one because I'd love to see it!

Kayte- I rescued the curtain ring from the trash! My mom was cleaning out her closet and found several of them about a year ago. I was sure that I could think of something to use them for, so I saved them. You might could find them at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's. Although, I looked around a bit before I remembered that I had the old ones, and I couldn't find them anywhere. Sorry about that :(

  11. We've just entered into the world of game board games, too! My daughter loves the tea party game and loves to play with the pieces on her own (not as part of the game), too!
