Monthly Fun Pack

I still have a few Christmas posts saved in draft that I want to get up before the new year.  I'm making a book of my blogs, so I want to make sure I don't leave anything out :)

I've been looking for some type of monthly fun activity pack that I could subscribe to for the girls for a while, and I have not been able to find anything that doesn't look junky and doesn't cost way more than it's worth.  However, I love the idea of them getting a fun pack in the mail each month, and I know it would thrill them beyond belief.  While thinking about this, it suddenly occured to me that I can make my own monthly fun packs for the girls.

I've been thinking about this for months, and I'm very excited about it.  I have a shipping box that I'll fill with various things each month...a couple of crafts, stickers, a piece of candy or gum, a recipe, paper dolls, and any fun seasonal activities that I find on the internet.  I'll address it to the girls each month and put it on the porch (where our mail lady leaves all of our packages) for them to find during the first week of each month.  They'll know it's from me, but I hope that they'll assume that it came in the mail since that will make it a little more exciting.  I'm going to introduce the monthly fun packs to the girls on Christmas morning with this set of New Year's Eve hats, horns, and decorations.  O was talking about New Year's Eve hats today, so I know she'll be thrilled to see this set!

  1. Thats a great idea. I'm sure they will assume it came in the mail, at least for awhile, and I imagine that it will up the excitement factor. I was wondering, do you do any new year's resolutions? And if so, do you have a resolution as a family?

I love your blog. I've been reading for awhile now but this may be my first time commenting. Thank you so much for the wonderful ideas.

  3. Loving that idea!
I would love to do something similar ... however, I am way not organized enough when it comes to activities with my kids at the moment. But maybe I can come up with some adjustment to make it work ... *think*

  4. If you mail it just the first time then it will have all the postage markings and address labels etc. You could also put a "January" sticker on it somewhere, then either carefully peel it each time or just put the next month sticker on top. You could also figure out a way to do it on their birth day (if one is born on September 23 have the package arrive on the 23 of each month). It could be a fun way to commemorate their birthday!

I love your website, by the way. The ideas are (mostly) doable with things I have around the house. The ladies at my MOPS table are getting the chocolate body scrub at our January meeting and my nieces got a nesting peg doll (mini) set for Christmas. Thanks much for sharing your journey with us!

  5. www.preschoolprojects.net has really neat monthly subscriptions for activities. They provide all the materials, instructions, additional ideas, etc. I do believe you would have to provide things like scissors, glue, crayons, etc but the main parts are inlcuded. They also offer a free sample which gives you an idea of what they send. The contact person is really kind and helpful. I have not used the monthly service but am considering using it in the future. Although, I do agree that you could make your own monthly fun pack. Your website is very helpful to me and my kiddos! Thanks so much!! Merry Christmas!

  8. You could do an exchange with one of your followers one month. Them make the pack for your girls, and your girls make a pack for the other persons child. Might be something different later in the year. ?

I love this idea. How special for your girls.

  9. You could do an exchange with one of your readers. They create a pack for your girls and your girls create a pack for their child/children? Might be fun to do later in the year for a twist.

Great ideas love them thanks for sharing!
