Leapfrog TAG Reading System

I'm planning on my dad buying the TAG system for O for her birthday (he always lets me choose her gifts!), and since it's on sale at Amazon, I thought I'd go ahead and buy it now. However, I need help deciding which books to buy with it. What are your favorite TAG books and why???? Thanks!!!

  1. I don't have one so I can't help you with books but I entered to win one here:

  2. We have the Cat in the Hat and our system came with the book Ozzie and Mack... my almost three-year-old LOVES them both, but was more interested in Ozzie and Mack -- we think it is because he knows and loves the actual Cat in the Hat book. We also have the Diego Underwater Mystery book (it was on a great sale) which is currently his favorite... I want to get the Olivia book as well as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom but haven't found a good enough sale, yet! :)

As far as the electronic Leap Frog stuff and such... this is the nicest one I think... not too video game-ish and still educational. My son likes just listening to the stories on the pen (you can have a few stored on it at one time) while he goes to bed or takes a nap.

  3. My 4 year old loves T Rex's mighty rawr but I love the Discovery Channel "flash card" things. They are packed full of information. My son loves to ask, 'Is that extinct?"

  4. I don't have a TAG, so I don't know how well it would work in this format, but my son loves any I SPY books.

  5. We have The Little Mermaid book just cause R is a princess fan. :) We also have and love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and The Little Engine That Could, as well as The Cat In the Hat. (Can't go wrong with classics!)

  8. prefer the books that are "activity" book instead of just the storybooks. So, we like Ozzie and Mack, T-Rex's Mighty Roar, Kung Fu Panda, Cars Tractor Tipping, and ISpy the most. We also have Chicka Chick Boom Boom and The Little Engine that Could, but my DS prefers that I just read those instead of reading with the Tag. We have the National Geographic cards, too, and they are very cool.

  9. My daughter got it for her third birthday. Her favourites are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Olivia, and the alphabet page game in Ozzie and Mack.

  10. I've seen these and wondered about them overall. Ben doesn't really like electronic "stuff" so I wasn't sure if he'd enjoy something like a talking book.

After O gets hers, please post your opinions--I'd love to hear them!

  11. My daughter (she is 3) received this as a special Valentine's Day surprise and LOOVVEES it! She is really into Disney princesses and likes the book about Ariel, but we also have The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. In addition to the books, they also have a deck of mammal interactive cards and sea life/birds interactive cards. We have the sea life/birds set and my daughter enjoys these as much as the books. I have to agree the "Ozzie and Mack" book that comes along with the system is a great little story and has had just as much play time as our other stories. Good luck choosing your books. Hope "O" loves the TAG!!!

  13. Our system also came with the book Ozzie and Mack, and we bought The Little Mermaid (Paige's FAVORITE princess) and the Cars one, which she also asked for. There are a lot of good stories that are available - I had a hard time choosing which ones to get myself. I believe they have Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - I think that might be a great one to start her off with. Click Clack Moo is another one that I know they have that is a really fun story.

  14. My daughter's two favorite TAG books are Ozzie and Mack and the Little Mermaid. She is a big Fancy Nancy fan (regular books) and enjoys the TAG Fancy Nancy book but it is not her favorite. She definitely enjoys books with more activities incorporated into them.

  15. I think the "I Spy" books get the most out of the technology.

  16. Hi...I don't have one but I did just get a $5.oo off coupon. It is good for the system or a book. If you would be able to use it let me know. I would hate for it to go to waste.

  17. I don't know if you bought it yet, but at thegrocerygame.com there are printable coupons for the Tag, Leapster, Books and Games. You don't have to sign up to print the coupons either.

I know you can't use them at Amazon.com, but maybe it would be cheaper to buy it locally and use the coupon?

  18. Thanks, Lisa. I searched the site and couldn't find it. I have one for 10 dollars off, so it may be the same one...

  19. It's probably the same one.... On the home page of the site look on the left hand side. It says "Teri's Coupon Center" "Print FREE Coupons, Get Them By Mail Or Live Actions". Click on that...

Then on that page in the middle column, click on "Print FREE Grocery Coupons" "Page 1, Page 2"
Click on either page 1 or page 2. Page 1 will bring up a window with a set of coupons and page 2 will bring up a window with a DIFFERENT set of coupons.

Now just scroll through the pages of coupons (I think there are 8 pages this time). Print the ones you want (max times to print is 2 per computer). You will also need to install their coupon printer software.

I know you already have a coupon for TAG, but they have lots of great coupons and they are different all the time. Maybe you can find more coupons for other things you need :)
