O's Doll Cradle...In Progress

IMG_9480 (Large), originally uploaded by omamom16.

Elliott and I have been working on O's doll cradle today. He was not at all excited about it, but he worked hard once we got started :) I drew out a pattern on a grocery bag and then traced it onto the board. Then Elliott cut everything out. It's a bit assymetrical, but hopefully O won't notice the imperfections :) I sanded it tonight, and I'm hoping to prime and paint it tomorrow.

  1. How great! We just bought a cradle to give Evie for Christmas, but hand-made is so much better!

  2. I can already tell it's going to be beautiful and O will love it!

Zara adores the cradle that my grandmother handmade for me when I was a little girl. Toys that come with love built into them really are the best and stand the test of time.

  3. so exciting! My parents made a very similar cradle for my 2nd christmas. My dad still has it. Amber plays with it every time we go to visit them.

My husband is not crafty, and we are in china now, but we got a great doll bed at Ikea for like $12, its helping with the transition to big girl bed.

  6. I can't wait to see the finished product! My husband is just learning how to use a saw for remodeling. Maybe he'll be able to do a project like this next year :)

  10. My parents probably still have my old doll cradle, which my dad made when I was little.
