O's Sticker Book

I made this sticker book for O for Christmas. To make it I used 8 x8 cardstock, scrapbook paper, and magazine pictures. I laminated the pages (so that O will be able to remove the stickers if she wishes), and Elliott tried to bind them together at his dad's office. This was a frustrating process because the pages were thick and the holes didn't punch well. I had to actually clip the holes and put the binding on by hand. It took awhile, but was fairly easy to do. I added a pencil pouch attached to the book with a book ring for her to store her stickers in.
These are my favorite pages :)
Here is one of the landscape pictures I added from a magazine. I was hoping to find more good landscape pictures for the book, but didn't have very much luck :( A good thing about the book is that I can add more pages if I need to. It feels good to mark another gift off of my homemade Christmas gifts list!

  1. Melissa,
What a cool idea! And I'm impressed that you are getting Christmas gifts done already. I know what I'm making for several people and have the materials, but haven't started yet. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. I think national geographic magazines would be good.. find someone who has a stash ;) I used up my own ones making an animal alphabet book, they have good photos.

or go to a travel agency and relieve them of a few magazines

  6. Hi, I'm a new reader. I've poured over your blog and bookmarked tons of ideas. I love this sticker idea, but I wonder how you laminate things? I've noticed that you laminate a lot of things. Is this a machine you have?

  7. We love stickers in this house. For the book part we have used the foam covered spiral bound books. I think they are about 8x8 and are found by the foam shape crafting section.

I like your idea of laminating the pages. Have tried stickers on laminated pages? I wonder if they truly can come off and put back on.
    Thanks.

  8. You might also consider requesting brochures from state tourism offices- it seems like there are always ads for free brochures in travel magazines and magazines like Country Living. They would probably have some lovely landscapes.

  9. That is an awesome idea. We have a spiral bound notebook that I have kept almost 7 years of stickers in. They mean alot to her. I'm sure she would love it if we were to make a book like this!

    Now to find the time...LOL!

  10. Lilly- Sorry it's taken me so long to answer you :( I do have a laminating machine. Elliott gave it to me for Christmas last year, and its one of my most used Christmas presents every! I LOVE it!

ibeeg- Some do, but not all. I guess it depends on the sticker :)

  12. You make lots of homemade books. Which are your favorite? The ones you buy a blank book for? or these that you put together yourself?

  13. Sarah- I like the look of the books made with the blank books the best, but the ones I put together are much more durable. Since the pages are laminated, I don't have to worry about O peeling the pictures off the pages or spilling something on them :) So...I like them both, but for different reasons. The books that I have planned for the future will be ones I've put together although I still have a few blank books I need to use. Finding the time to make them is the biggest problem...
